Contest Rules

UPPCO is excited to host our Annual Holiday Lighting Contest. Enter the contest by submitting photos of your holiday lighting display and help us celebrate the holiday season by voting for your favorite display.

Contest Dates

  • Online entries will be accepted between November 2 - December 14, 2026.
  • Online voting will be open between December 7 - December 24, 2026.

 

Awards

(1) - First Place Prize $500 Gift Card

(1) - Second Place Prize $250 Gift Card

(1) - Third Place Prize $100 Gift Card

 

Voting Details

  • Voting is open to the public regardless of UPPCO customer status.
  • Voters must submit their email address to receive a vote confirmation link via email.
  • Voters must visit the confirmation link via email and click the confirmation button in order for their vote to count.
  • Voters may cast 1 vote every 24 hours.
  • Voting ends at 11:59 PM December 24, 2026.

 

Submission Requirements

  • Only residential UPPCO customers are eligible to enter this contest.
  • Lighting displays must be located at an address within the UPPCO electric service territory.
  • Images will not appear on the Holiday Lighting Contest webpage until they have been reviewed and approved, and customer status is confirmed by UPPCO.
  • UPPCO employees and immediate family members are not eligible to enter. Immediate family members include spouses, parents, siblings, children, grandparents and grandchildren, including corresponding relationships through marriage.
  • Decorations must be fully visible from the roadway.
  • One entry per customer per address.
  • Decorations for the contest must be lit during the voting period December 7– 24, 2026, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. local time for viewing.
  • Entries must comply with applicable laws and safety requirements and must not create a hazard to the public, utility workers, or property.
  • By entering UPPCO’s Holiday Lighting Contest, you explicitly consent to all of the following:
    (1) your street address and city name will be published on UPPCO’s website;
    (2) your submission will be publicly displayed and made available for online voting and,
    (3) any/all photos submitted by contest participants shall become the property of UPPCO for its unrestricted use.
    Unless a customer is one of the three winners, UPPCO will not publish any customer’s name in conjunction with an entry UPPCO receives. UPPCO reserves the right to reject any contest entry and/or photo that it deems to be offensive, inappropriate, or in violation of the contest rules.
  • By submitting a photo, the entrant represents that they have the right to submit the photo and grants UPPCO the rights described above.

 

Disqualifications

UPPCO reserves the right to disqualify an entry for the following reasons:

  • Fraudulent/manipulated voting
  • Multiple or automated votes
  • Violation of the rules
  • False information
  • Unsafe displays

 

Winner Selection, Notification & Prizes

  • Winners will be notified by December 31, 2026. Winners who cannot be reached within 14 days of initial notice may forfeit their prize, and an alternate winner may be selected.
  • The submission receiving the greatest number of votes will receive the First Place Prize. The submission receiving the second-highest number of votes will receive the Second Place Prize, and the submission receiving the third-highest number of votes will receive the Third Place Prize. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by random drawing from the tied submissions.
  • Gift cards are not redeemable for cash and may not be transferred to another individual.
  • Winners may select the local business for which they would like to receive a gift card. Exclusions apply: businesses whose primary products or services are age-restricted, including establishments primarily selling alcohol, cannabis, tobacco, adult-oriented products or services, or gambling.

 

Contest Suspension or Cancellation

UPPCO reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Holiday Lighting Contest if circumstances outside of its control affect the contest.
